Create Scrapbooks Using Free Images from the Web

Because there are so many Web-savvy scrapbooking supply designers today, there’s an abundance of free digital scrapbooking supplies. That means all you need to know is how to do an online search and download files and you can have an almost endless supply of materials to create beautiful scrapbooks. That’s why famous artist Mary Englebreit recently remarked that the Internet is a great source of scrapbooking images that will yield almost anything you might need. And she’s an authority on quality images; products with her illustrations sell like mad!

The following are samples of some of the types of free scrapbook graphics I’ve found on the Web:

Antique
More and more people seem to be searching for antique scrapbook graphics. Maybe that’s because vintage art is so timeless and doesn’t date the final product to any particular modern era. Antique greeting cards make terrific vintage scrapbook embellishments, as does antique clipart. And when you can find digital scrapbooking papers made from compilations of vintage images, you’ll experience digital meeting traditional in a beautiful and useful way. Vintage art also covers a range of subjects, which means you can find images as diverse as vintage flowers, magician posters, Victorian fashion illustrations, tall sailing ships and vintage posters. So whatever the topic of your scrapbook, you can probably find vintage art to match.

Holidays
Holidays just naturally invite the creation of scrapbooks, since those are the times we gather with friends and family to create special memories. And Christmas, Easter, Halloween and Valentine’s Day aren’t the only holidays that make people want to create scrapbooks; many people are interested in the minor holidays too. There are all kinds of patriotic scrapbooking papers and embellishments online for holidays such as Memorial Day, Veterans Day, Fourth of July and Flag Day. There are also images suitable for Earth Day, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day and just about any other holiday you can think of; even the silly or off-beat ones.

Flowers and Butterflies
I’ve definitely noticed that people who scrapbook love flowers, and why not? They’re appropriate for almost any occasion. Butterflies attract a large audience too, because they bring to mind so many things we love: freedom, summertime and other happy things. Butterfly and flower images are also diverse, because an abundance of them can be found as both illustrations and photos, and in modern and vintage styles. You can even find free butterfly scrapbooking papers that have coordinating modern and vintage designs available in the same collections.

Wedding Images
Scrapbooks and weddings are a natural combination, because it’s always been a tradition to have a wedding photo album. But a wedding scrapbook can offer an even more creative way to preserve your precious memories. There are many good free wedding scrapbook images on the Web that will allow you to create one of these very special mementos with no or little cost. And if for some reason you don’t find any specifically for weddings that appeal to you, flower images would also be a great choice.

Babies
Like weddings, babies invite photography. And what scrapbooker wouldn’t want to pass down a distinctive baby scrapbook to her child as he or she gets older? Fortunately, you can find a huge selection of scrapbook materials for babies. If you haven’t looked at baby images for a while, though, you might be surprised to learn that the colors are less traditional than they used to be. Burnt orange, chocolate brown and red are all the rage, as well as a few specific shades of green. Blue and pink are still popular, of course, but these days there are many bold color choices too.

So the next time you need scrapbook supplies, check the Internet. You might find some amazing free things.
